Summer 2026

The June/July/August 2026 edition of AZURE is dedicated to our 16th annual AZ Awards — and also features the best of Milan, the New Museum’s expansion, the latest in building envelope systems and more!

The AZ Awards issue packs much more than our winners and finalists — though they certainly take pride of place. (And you can read all about them on our dedicated AZ Awards site.)

The open-office trend is a polarizing one. Fans will say that a lack of partitions promotes collaboration; critics maintain that shared desks diminish productivity. Whatever your stance, sometimes a little privacy is necessary to get the job done. These five products for open offices create space and soften noise, and they look good while doing it.

1 Framery Q by Framery
The ultimate room within a room, these soundproof booths effectively cut out the cacophony of bustling open-plan offices. Made from laminated birch plywood, laminated sound-control glass and lined inside with recycled acoustic foam, the sleek two-person numbers can be kitted out with lighting, adjustable tables and various seating options, and can even be set up to accommodate video conferencing.

2 BuzziBlinds by BuzziSpace
Inspired by modernist architecture in general, and the work of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer specifically, these free-standing room dividers are the latest offering from the Belgian brand. Designed with Alain Gilles, the four styles – Straight, Wedge, Curved and Round – are detailed with linear patterns using V-cut technology and the rotating fins can twist open or close to varying degrees.

3 AK 2 by De Vorm
Suspended from steel cables, this minimally designed pendant lamp does triple duty to divide up shared desk spaces. Spanning 1500 millimetres, it provides a visual barrier to outside distractions; it casts light on either side to illuminate to separate areas; and it’s made from sound-dampening PET felt to create a quiet zone.

4 Zintra Acoustic Concertina by Baresque
Fastened together using flexible straps, these acoustical screens by the Australian interior finishes manufacturer can be set up in any open space to help mitigate sound and separate spaces. Standing 1.8 metres tall and 590 millimetres wide, the three lightweight polyester panels in the set can be angled in any direction as needed, and then be folded flat for easy storage when not in use.

5 Atelier 2 by Dauphin
On its own or grouped in a pair, this sofa offers a destination for individual work, private meetings or even a comfortable spot for a coffee break. The high, upholstered back can be finished flat or detailed with channel or diamond stitching, and it can be equipped with surface-mounted charging units.
