An Archeology of the Future

Lina Ghotmeh — Architecture is a Paris-based atelier founded by Lina Ghotmeh. Echoing her lived experience in Beirut, her office’s work is orchestrated as an “Archeology of the Future”: every project emerges in complete symbiosis with nature after a thorough historical and materially sensitive approach. These projects include “Stone Garden,” a hand-crafted tower in Beirut; “Réalimenter Masséna,” winner of the call for innovative projects of the city of Paris; and the new Hermès Workshops, a low-carbon passive building under construction in Normandy.

Lina Ghotmeh is also a Louis I. Kahn visiting professor at the Yale School of Architecture, a Gehry Chair at the University of Toronto, and a Member Professor at the IAA International Academy of Architecture. She has been awarded the 2020 Schelling Architecture Prize, the 2020 Tamayouz “Woman of Outstanding Achievement” Award, and the 2019 French Fine Arts Academy Cardin Award, among others.
