The Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) returns to New York for its 14th edition. From September 28 to October 2, Architecture and Design Film Festival: New York City will showcase a diverse range of films from over eleven countries, including seven US premieres and the world premiere of Robin Hood Gardens – a German documentary on preservation challenges.
The curated selection of films investigates design’s impact on the worlds of fashion, real estate, art, architecture, urban planning, housing, and more. Opening Night of the Festival will kick off with Fashion Reimagined, a documentary that explores Mother of Pearl designer Amy Powney’s trajectory as she sets out to create an ethical and sustainable collection. Other highlights include inspiring stories about Danish design pioneer Grethe Meyer, legendary Dutch architect of MVRDV Architects Winy Maas, and Finnish artist as well as one of the first Marimekko designers – Maija Isola. Many of the films will be introduced by special guests and followed by engaging Q&As with the filmmakers or film subjects.
