Environmental Defence: Moving Together is an event that explores the question: “How can we reduce the environmental impact of the ways we get around and make sure no one is left behind?”

Join Environmental Defence, experts and community leaders in transportation and city building as they explore and discuss the ways we can build an equitable transportation future with safe streets and healthy, affordable communities.

Discussion Themes & Activities

  • The State of Transportation Emissions in Canada – Canada plans to phase out the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035. What does this mean for my community and how do we ensure this transition is fair?
  • Sustainable & Equitable Cities – New highways and urban sprawl are not solutions to housing unaffordability and traffic congestion. How do we stop further sprawl and build healthy, walkable cities instead?
  • Saving Public Transit – Our public transit systems are in a financial crisis. How do we push for solutions that will improve our daily commutes and help meet our climate goals?
  • Lunchtime Q&A – Join an expert at their table over lunch for an open Q&A. There will be tables focused on speakers’ discussion themes and on how to get more involved with your community and Environmental Defence. Stay after lunch for a family-friendly action to help Save Public Transit: sign a petition, take a photo, enjoy a complimentary hot beverage!
