The Harbourfront Centre welcomes audiences back for illuminating outdoor winter experiences, starting with Nordic Lights, a dazzling display of Nordic and Canadian light art. Comprised of 6 public installations across the Toronto waterfront, the event is part of the centre’s Nordic Spotlights initiative, a series of unique experiences that highlight contemporary Nordic arts and culture.
In the North Orchard, Pressure is a piece consisting of a 300-metre long RGB-LED hose shaped like a doodle wrapped in the construction. Conceived mainly for big open spaces, CONTROL NO CONTROL is a large-scale interactive installation in Ontario Square that reacts to everything that touches it and every movement performed on its surface. At the Power Plant, Equinox combines elements of contemporary dance, nu-jazz and graphics to invite the audience into a dynamic, poetic and contemplative experience. Inspired by the Sámi spiritual tradition, in which we live in a reciprocal relationship with all living entities, waterfalls cascade from the building’s windows in Gorži. Finally, Great Minds is a dynamic monument that features two monumental brains in dialogue.
