The fourth edition of Malmö festival Southern Sweden Design Days takes place across four days in May 2024. With a train ride only 30 minutes from Copenhagen, Malmö is a central hub for creativity, sustainability and culture. Organized by architecture and design museum Form/Design Center, the event hosts exhibitions, workshops, seminars and networking opportunities. Each year’s unique theme aims to inspire, promote creativity and new ideas for an exciting program, with this year’s being CARE. To CARE is to look after and provide for the needs of others. From intimate, personal subjects to large-scale contexts, this years’ theme may cover a wide spectrum of topics.
With CARE in mind, exhibitions include “HOUSE OF STRAW,” which illustrates how we can develop today’s architecture using the older craftsmanship tradition of local and natural materials, establishing care for buildings to stand forever. The festival also offers seminars like Emma Lindberg’s Recycling the “ugly“ to discuss transformation and reuse in design.
