Ateliers Courbet is pleased to announce Transmutations, the latest representation and collaboration with Mexican multidisciplinary artist Héctor Esrawe with his first solo exhibition in the United States. The exhibition will feature the Gear series of limited-edition lights and tables hand-crafted by a team of art founders outside of Mexico City.
The exhibition will include the unveiling of three new Gear pieces resulting from the dialogue between the artist and gallery founder Melanie Courbet. Expanding upon Esrawe’s body of work, the Gear series reflects the artist’s unwavering
commitment to the master-craftsmanship heritage of his country and his ongoing tribute to the rarefied master-artisans that keep it alive today.
Alongside the Gear collection, the gallery will present a sculptural light from Esrawe’s Parabola lights series that explores the interplay between space and form, investigating how light interacts with solid metal surfaces on various scales. Combining innovative technology and time-honored techniques, the artist’s work reflects his architectural perspective and Mexico’s ongoing metalsmithing and craftsmanship legacy. Dedicated to honoring his country’s rich heritage, Esrawe’s practice acts as a contemporary tribute to the depth and breadth of its cultural legacy.
