Many objects are not designed by professional designers, but have evolved across the centuries. In 2016, four French product designers – Guillaume Bloget, Raphael Daufresne, Thélonious Goupil, and Guillaume Jandin – began to explore the history of product archetypes, documenting their results in their journal “Typologie”. Their research on wine bottles and cork stoppers has shown that objects, too, are subject to evolution, adapting to their function and local conditions. The exhibition “Typology: An Ongoing Study of Everyday Items” at the Vitra Design Museum Gallery presents this research as well as a new project addressing wooden fruit and vegetable crates.
