Zeitgeist: Then Everything Changed, a virtual art exhibition highlighting the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the art market

Zeitgeist: Then Everything Changed, is the inaugural virtual exhibition with a leading global online marketplace for art, Artsy. Exemplifying the two online platforms’ shared vision and mission in further democratizing the art viewing and collecting process, Zeitgeist: Then Everything Changed is the first of a three-part exhibition reflecting on the unexpected challenges and victories of 2020.

Through examining our reaction to the pervasive social and cultural shifts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition simultaneously highlights its effect on the art market—specifically, the increasing role that digital technology will play in its future.

Featuring artists working across a variety of media, each of Zeitgeist’s instalments will reflect on the initial phase in the progression of the pandemic as it rippled through virtually every aspect of contemporary life. This first segment, Zeitgeist: Then Everything Changed, which includes 30 works, examines the on-set of COVID-19 and the inherently subjective experience of enduring such a significant world event.
