Stantec is currently seeking an Intern Architect to join its team in Toronto.

The primary role of the Intern Architect is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of clients, with direction from multidisciplinary teams, into cohesive design solutions. This process will involve the production of drawings (2D/3D) and written material to support the conceptual direction of the project. This individual will often be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings with a willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. An individual at this level in their career is expected to perform their role within the standard of care acceptable to their peers in the industry. An intern architect is expected to work collaboratively with the architectural team in conceptualizing, developing and documenting varying aspects of the design of a project, including but not limited to site and space planning, developing elevations, sections and architectural details, and product research. 

Key Responsibilities

• Conducts basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.
• Supports project team in development of design documentation.
• Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical and digital models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats. 
• Utilizes BIM technologies in development of 3D models of buildings and their components.
• Assists in research of concept, benchmark, materials, typology, and precedents. 

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficiency with Revit and its use as a design tool.
• Experience with design software such as (Sketchup, Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Photoshop, and Illustrator).
• Experience with design equipment (3D printer, laser cutter, etc.) is preferred.
• Ability to hand-sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively. 
• Participate and collaborate in project team setting. 
• Engage in creative and critical thought. 
• Interpret sketches, drawings, building programs and other similar material. 
• Communicate abstract ideas (verbal/Written).   

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience preferred
• Internship experience preferred.
• Registration within Provincial/Territorial Association of Architects as an Intern Architect is preferred.
