AF/21 from the Aboutwater by Boffi + Fantini collection, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, is the result of an exploration into the simplification of forms, thought out in terms of maximum clarity.
The design is reduced almost to a pure icon where the aesthetic quality of materials is emphasized.
The faucets and shower system become discs and cylinders; the taps are reminiscent of the forms found on the controls of a stereo, while the shower system recalls the concise elegance of alphabetic characters. It is a simple design with a simultaneously powerful and absolute line.
Fukasawa adds an important piece to Fantini’s AF/21 collection with elegantly simple, natural-looking marble handles.
A creator of objects with a poetic allure, in constant pursuit of a universally-understood aesthetic where nature is often the source of inspiration, Fukasawa has designed a new handle in Carrara White and Marquinia Black marble with the usual light, spare lines that aim to achieve the absolute form of the archetype.
The handle’s form seems to soften the material, responding to how the hand moves and creating the sense of a natural object: a river stone smoothed by water and time.
