A collaboration between Milan-based designer Patricia Urquiola and Italian surfaces and furniture brand Cimento, the Alberoni collection is one part of a larger experimental series that explores the material possibilities of the company’s revolutionary cement compound.

Comprising a coffee table, side table, stool and highboard, the pieces from the Alberoni collection by Patricia Urquiola marry strong geometric lines with soft colours and sinuous detailing akin to natural striations of sedimentary rocks.

Equal parts stunning artwork and functional furniture, the elements on offer within the Alberoni collection express the unique texture, properties and characteristics of Cimento, a cement compound (with more than 90 per cent mineral aggregates mixed with a cement binder) that can be applied to a variety of substrates to create a solid appearance while remaining lightweight.

For the all of the new Patricia Urquiola-designed furniture lines, a spray technique was used that lends the surfaces both striking visuality and tactility.

The Alberoni coffee table, side table, stool and highboard are each designed with imposing edges and orthogonal lines that are tempered by shapely columns rendered with pastel colour gradients that lend a certain softness to the pieces.

Taking inspiration from natural environments like the Venetian lagoon and the Adriatic Sea as well as the ancient spice trade, Cimento’s colour palette includes nuances of light blue, green, mustard yellow, red and others, that are calibrated for varying levels of saturation and intensity. Three gradated colour variations are available for the Alberoni collection.
