When conceiving the Atmosphere floor lamp for Karman, Italian designer Matteo Ugolini was inspired to simply pause and observe a particular phenomenon of nature – the tenacity of a drop of dew to stay put on a swaying blade of grass. 

With Atmosphere, Ugolini translated this through the careful positioning of a luminous sphere along a whisper-thin stem. 

Available in outdoor and indoor (not shown) versions, the slender floor lamp has a presence that is at once sculptural and curious, requiring a closer examination of its composition. 

Available in three heights, the fixture is made with a knurled fibreglass bar (in matte black or matte white) that extends vertically from a stable metal disc-like base; the illumination comes from the acrylic globe. A stake base is also available for the outdoor Atmosphere.
