A modular series of saunas and hammams, Baluar from Effe is the result of a recent collaboration with renowned designer Patricia Urquiola, who envisioned the units as compact and complete architectural elements.
Merging design, materials and technology, Baluar delivers a pure, immersive and regenerative wellbeing experience. When devising the collection, Urquiola took inspiration from the bastion, the projected architectural structure used in medieval fortifications as both a defensive protection and a look-out over the surrounding countryside.
With Baluar, this translated into a modern-day shelter that offers protection and serves as a cozy volume that projects outwards while creating an inner sanctuary where bathers are able to unwind, relax and recharge.
The distinctive medieval archetypal shape has been made contemporary with an inviting and pleasant profile. Heat-treated linden wood cladding (in either dark or light tones) is defined by narrow vertical grooves, a detail that lends movement to the surface and emphasizes its strong architectural presence. Inside, controlled lighting is cast from the top and sets the mood while also enhancing the feeling of protection.
Baluar from Effe combines a sauna and hammam in a single modular structure, and makes a stunning addition to high-end bathrooms and home wellness spaces; its flexible programming allows for a number of different compositions to be realized. With a considered attention to detail and technological innovation, the sauna and hammam offers an overall immersive and cocooning experience.
