Cologne, Germany-based studio KaschKasch designed the Ben bench for Functionals as an adaptable and comfortable seating system that is as suitable for private residences as it is for public spaces like airports, train stations, museums and outdoor venues.
The Ben bench from Functionals features a gently curved seat that is the perfect marriage of function and aesthetics. At the very heart of the bench‘s design is an innovative concave seat that allows for equal seating from all sides, while also ensuring the efficient draining of rainwater to keep the surface dry, making it an ideal option for outdoor use.
Made from extruded aluminum (for the seat and back) and steel (both of which are 100 per cent recyclable), the Ben bench is extremely durable and stable, making it an ideal option for gardens, terraces and public parks.
Employing sturdy construction, the bench is able to be configured with spans that range from 180 centimetres up to 360 centimetres in length (four sizes are available).
Furthering its versatility, the Ben bench from Functionals can be assembled in multiple ways: as a freestanding bench with a steel arch or unfinished concrete support, floor-mounted with a steel tube support or wall-mounted with a separate backrest, if desired.
Optional accessories include a small steel table, looped steel armrests and an integrated power strip/USB port for charging mobile devices; cables are kept out of sight for a clean and streamlined look.
The Ben bench from Functionals is available in six powder-coated colours: Raven Black, Umbra Grey, Chalk White, Mushroom White, Oxide Brown and Sage Green.
