Summer 2026

A quiet library reading area with wooden tables and chairs, floor lamps, large windows, and a green bag on the floor.

Inspired by the “rhythm, harmony and movement of music,” the new Between the Notes collection from Interface is intended to allow designers to experiment with and explore scale and pattern across expansive, open workspaces, education spaces, senior and assisted living settings and other commercial environments.

The Between the Notes collection includes three coordinating styles — Overtone, Soft Measure and Tempo Trace — that take influence from sound waves, staccato notes and crescendos and transform interiors with “visual symphonies.” Each distinct pattern features expressive colour palettes that range from energetic to calming. A modular carpet tile series, the individual elements can be used to create smooth transitions, define zones and orchestrate movement without any harsh lines or interruptions.

Overtone from the Between the Notes Collection Interface
Overtone

Like an opening movement, Overtone introduces a pleasing rhythm through a considered layering of pattern and colour that create the feeling of a sound wave moving across the floor. Marking an arrival space, forming a guiding path or signifying a shift in direction, Overtone is available in 16 colours that range from bright and cheery to neutral and moody.

Soft Measure

A steady and calming pattern, Soft Measure features staccato note-inspired textures that lend a soft, woven appearance to the material that helps ground larger spaces by adding depth and continuity throughout. Soft Measure is available in eight neutral-toned colours.

Tempo Trace from the Between the Notes Collection Interface
Tempo Trace

The third pattern in the Between the Notes collection from Interface, Tempo Trace combines large-scale visuals with dotted textural details to develop a sense of flow and forward motion that leads the eye throughout a space without overwhelming it. Tempo Trace is available in eight subdued colours.
