A collaboration with artist and textile designer Serena Dugan, the latest addition to the Cinema collection from Clé Tile was inspired by a split-diagonal tile Dugan encountered while in Mexico City.
The tile brand’s first cement mural collection translates the designer’s eye and artistry of textiles to cement, creating a vibrant series of tiles that can build unique mural compositions.
The cement tile mural series is composed of 10-centimetre (or four-inch) solid and slanting modules that can be combined together to form rhythmic, colour-saturated and textile-like patterns.
Suitable for use on both walls and floors in private spaces and heavy commercial settings, the hand-crafted encaustic cement tiles are made using pigmented cement, meaning that they do not need to be kiln-fired. This approach ensures each tile has unique variations that enliven installations.
The cement tiles in the Cinema collection are also pre-polished to achieve a smooth and matte texture, which is resistant to surface dirt, making them an ideal choice in a multitude of settings. The finish will naturally patina over time, lending further dynamism to applications.
Along with floor and wall applications, the cement tile mural collection from Clé can also be used in bathrooms, shower floors and walls, as a fireplace surround, kitchen backsplash and more.
The collection is available in three hues from the brand’s Mythology palette; the robust colour series includes upwards of 34 distinct tones inspired by cinematic moods and emotional storytelling.
The three colours that the cement tile mural collection is offered in include: Fuego, a warm mix of Chestnut, Rouge, Flame and Paste; Agua, a combination of Abyss, Celadon, Forest and Paste; and Terra, featuring Army, Roan, Glove and Paste.
