For his first collection for The Rug Company, London-based designer Christopher Kane contributed five area rugs (and one throw pillow), each influenced by his vast personal portfolio.
On the traditional side are the Botanical Anatomy rug (above, left), which reflects his appreciation for botanical illustrations and translates floral motifs through handwoven silk yarn and Tibetan wool; and Filigree (above, right), a textural rug with raised, hand-knotted silk creating a sense of movement.
Both Grid Construct (above, left) and Wave Construct (above, right) are decidedly more modern, with strong lines that reference the Constructivism movement, Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s chairs and Willow Tearooms in Glasgow.
