Swedish wood flooring expert Bjelin introduces the Contrast collection, a curated series that celebrates and highlights the natural beauty of Spačva oak, a species known its pronounced annual rings and rich texture.
A masterful fusion of craftsmanship and technology, the hardened wood Contrast collection employs the brand’s pioneering Woodura (from sister company Välinge Innovation), a ground-breaking treatment that heats and presses wood and wood-powder layers together to amplify its hardiness, making it three times as strong than traditional engineered wood options; the flooring is also highly resistant to water and dents.
Made from FSC-certified European oak wood from Croatia, the Contrast collection from Bjelin is offered in five contemporary finishes that use Woodura’s technology of nine precision-engineered brushes to “seamlessly integrate contrasting pigments into the surface, highlighting the natural grain of the oak.” Adding to the woods’ longevity is a pro matte lacquer, which makes the flooring suitable for such high-traffic environments as hotels, shops, restaurants and offices, as well as private residences.
The five hues in the Contrast collection’s Scandi-inspired palette are: Silver, a compelling blend of sophisticated greys; Ivory, a vintage-effect achieved through the combining of two contrasting whites; Vapor, a two-toned mixing of light and dark greys; Granite, a blending of natural and grey tones that results in a unique sense of depth; and Desert, a subtle merging of warm light brown and soft white.
Bjelin’s Contrast collection is easy to install through the brand’s leakproof 5G Dry floor locking system, a click-in-place system that needs no tools, glue or nails and ensures long-lasting durability and prevents leaking through the seams. Available in XL plank format, which measures 20.6-centimetres wide.
