Conceived by Russian design and architecture collective DA Bureau and manufactured by Palaty Atelier (the production side of Palaty Gallery), the DP1 Kitchen is at once stunning sculpture and fully functional system.
The first product to be developed by DA Bureau’s new arm – DA product – the DP1 Kitchen is made through a combination of hand crafting and machine-based technology. Free from superfluous decorative elements and detailing, the kitchen system cantilevers the generous island from two squat columns, playing with perception and expression.
Each material and finish that goes into the custom DP1 Kitchen has been chosen for sustainability and performance, while the design reflects DA Bureau’s shared affinity for Constructivist architecture.
Hygienic and hard-wearing stainless-steel forms the boxy island that serves as countertop and storage and is contrasted by a warm and graphically patterned veneer on the cabinets. The reconstructed veneer is made from scraps sourced from furniture manufacturers, and features swirls and grains in contrasting rich tones of brown. Hand-crafted, textured and glazed ceramic fluting wraps the two cylindrical bases, themselves rough, lively and elemental.
The stainless-steel volume also features concealed storage and a pull-out worktop for small tasks or quick meals. DP1 Kitchen can be customized.
