A new six-pattern collection, First Principles from HBF Textiles translates essential design principles into a versatile series defined by colour, texture and performance. Translating the central ideas that shape “thoughtful design” — balance, harmony and unity, scale and proportion, contrast, functionality and rhythm — the collection offers interior designers a strong foundational base with which to craft intentional spaces.
With the cohesive First Principles collection from HBF Textiles, movement and scale are introduced to interiors through the individual patterns, allowing for the seamless continuity or attention-grabbing applications. Each distinct pattern — Artisan, Bloc, Harmony, Notable Grain, Picnic Plaid and Still Life — has its own distinct personality while also contributing to an encompassing composition.
With quiet movement and a sketch-like repetitive pattern, Artisan lends a sense of rhythm through its textured surface and subtle depth. The polyacrylic/polyester (53 per cent/47 per cent) upholstery textile has a lovely rippling tactile quality that feels serene, considered and intentional and is available in 13 colours.
A dynamic interplay of colour and contrast, Bloc features a deliberate arrangement of multiple hues that create a defined structure and visual energy and can be used to establish captivating focal points. The 100 per cent polyester upholstery fabric is available in five colours.
Harmony masterfully pairs 100 per cent natural wool fibres with an expressive palette of two-tone colourways. Bringing understated sophistication to interiors, the upholstery textile is available in eight colours.
Familiar and comforting, Picnic Plaid calls to mind woollen hiking jackets and outdoor summertime meals with its recognizable scale and construction. Suitable for upholstery as well as wrapped panels and system panels, the pattern works in both residential and commercial interiors and is available in 14 colours.
Inspired by hand-painted artworks, the highly expressive Still Life has an intentional artistic quality that commands attention and can create memorable moments within a space. The polyester/nylon/acrylic/post-consumer polyester (42 per cent/21 per cent/19 per cent/19 per cent) upholstery fabric is available in seven colours named for influential artists: Mary, Henri, Utagawa, Vincent, Georgia, Maria and Claude.
The last pattern in the First Principles collection from HBF Textiles, Notable Grain (shown on pouffe) is a tonal faux leather with an elegant, oversized grain. Made from 100 per cent polyurethane, the upholstery textile introduces depth and authenticity with its supple hand and substantial weight and is available in 22 colours.
