Designed in a collaboration with Barcelona-based Manel Molina, the Folded bench from Nanimarquina was “inspired by the essence of the rug.”
The sculpted form of the Folded bench from Naniarquina intentionally upends the traditional boundaries of design, taking the rug beyond the floor and transforming it into a practical, versatile and simply delightful piece of furniture.
Devised as an “inseparable duo,” the textured upholstery and bent shape of the Folded bench from Nanimarquina create a functional and expressive seat, one that is just as at home at the end of a bed as it is as a welcoming sight in a front foyer or creating a cozy corner next to an armchair in a living room.
The Folded bench is available in three distinct personalities: Colors, a monotone version that showcases the immaculate lines of the design in Saffron Red, Beige, Caramel and Greyish Brown; Pattern, which lends texture through its dynamic arrangement of geometric shapes that run in different directions and are rendered in a mix of rich and pretty hues; and Flowers, with an elegantly embroidered floral motif that puts craftsmanship and the beauty of detail on display.
Made from 100 per cent Afghan wool, the hand-loomed kilim rug that forms the upholstery of the Folded bench from Nanimarquina is expertly wrapped around a sturdy solid beech and birch plywood frame. Selected for its natural wave and hardy resistance, the Afghan wool is sheared from sheep who graze in the high mountains; the irregular yarn produced creates an aged and unique appearance when woven.
Padded with fire-retardant PU foam, the generous and comfortable Folded bench is offered in three sizes – small (45 H x 60 W x 45 D cm), medium (45 H x 97 W x 45 D cm) and large (45 H x 120 W x 45 D cm).
