A collaboration with Swiss office furniture brand Giroflex and designed by BIG-GAME, the G-WOC from Karimoku New Standard is a new task chair and one of several additions to the Japanese furniture maker’s permanent collection.
Originally a limited-edition release known as Giroflex 150 in celebration of Giroflex’s 150th anniversary, G-WOC from Karimoku New Standard is constructed almost exclusively from responsibly sourced Japanese woods.
Refined and adapted for contemporary offices, G-WOC is composed of a 3D-moulded beech plywood structure with a top layer of oak veneer, which lends the highly functional chair an inviting warmth.
The first all-wood task chair for Karimoku New Standard, G-WOC is integrated with Giroflex’s Synchro Motion mechanism, which allows the seat and backrest to move independently yet in sync with the user’s body at a ratio of approximately 1:2.5 to ensure the lower back is always supported.
A robust tilt and height-adjustment mechanism, Synchro Motion mitigates pressure on the user’s thighs, helps improve blood circulation and prevents body stiffness that results from long hours in a static position. Set on a five-caster base (the only plastic portions), the G-WOC task chair moves effortlessly wherever it’s needed.
Along with the all-wood version, G-WOC from Karimoku New Standard is also available with an optional upholstered seat. Both the all-wood and the upholstered versions have a naturally soft expression that complements a range of workspaces and other commercial interiors.
G-WOC from Karimoku New Standard is available in three colour variations — Pure Oak, with a clear coating finish that enhances the natural grain of the wood; Grain Matte Black, a rich and dramatic tone; and Grain Gray, a slightly softer finish.
