The Grande Lume collection from Marazzi was created to bring the charm and sensory experience of the brand’s majolica-inspired Crogiolo Lume tiles to a larger scale with more architectural dimension.
Grande Lume is made from porcelain stoneware (suitable for use both indoors and outdoors) and transforms it into a fluid material that calls to mind the natural processes of the earth — with colour emerging organically through “density, stratification and light,” similar to how a mineral pour slowly cools and settles into a form.
The resultant glossy surfaces beautifully capture and reflect light with unparalleled and unexpected depth. Achieved through a technically advanced glazing technique, the vibrant surface effect is more than superficial. Colours are nonuniform, varied and always balanced, playing with transparency and rich chromatic fields.
A palette of six deeply saturated tones is available for Grande Lume by Marazzi, each one evoking minerals, molten earth and liquid reflections. Named Ossidiana, Malachite, Petrolio, Cobalto, Magma and Pomice, the individual colours express a precise and distinct character while maintaining a strong material and visual cohesion.
The large-format Grande Lume by Marazzi is offered in two sizes (160-by-320- and 162-by-324-centimetres); the slabs bring continuity to exterior architectural volumes, scenographic walls and horizontal surfaces, while indoors they can be used to clad kitchen islands and tabletops or naturally extend flooring to the wall to create completely luminous and enveloping environments.
