Polish designer Tomasz Augustyniak created the Kanu lounge armchair collection for Kusch+Co as a comfortable seat that promotes a sense of calm and wellbeing while encouraging connections and creativity.

Merging an elegant style with functionality, the Kanu lounge armchair from Kusch+Co has an informal canoe-inspired shape and is suitable for use in lounge areas and relaxation zones in workspaces, public settings or even residential interiors. The compelling shape and extra-wide seat of the armchair accommodates a range of sitting styles, from upright to relaxed to cross-legged.

Moulded plywood forms the seat and backrest of the Kanu lounge armchair, which can be specified with a classic wooden base or a contemporary metal base. The wooden base option is crafted from plywood with precise edges and wide, sloping legs. Painted a standard deep black, the wooden base creates an unexpected interplay of light, lending the lounge armchair a subtle architectural dynamism.

The metal base version features a structural framework made from slender tubular metal to give Kanu a visually light and industrial character. Multiple colourways are available for the metal base. Furthering its versatility, two distinct backrest options are available – one with a sweeping elliptical shape and one with a sophisticated undercut arch.

The Kanu lounge armchair designed by Tomasz Augustyniak for Kusch+Co can feature a full-wood seats and backs or be accompanied with an upholstered pad on both the seat and backrest or just one of the two elements. Together, the two different base options, two backrest variations and opportunity to add a padded cushion, there are a wide range of appearances that can be applied to the Kanu lounge armchair.
