An exclusive collaboration between the Ken Scott Foundation and Inkiostro Bianco celebrates the extraordinary talent of the American artist and designer with the Ken Scott Unconventional wallpaper collection.
Featuring six graphic designs based on Ken Scott’s iconic works, the collection can transform interiors with its distinctive character and eclectic style. Known as the “Gardener of Fashion” for his exceptional use of colour, pattern and floral motifs, Ken Scott was active in the 1960s and 70s and revolutionized the textile and fashion design worlds with his nature-inspired pieces.
This signature vision has been translated for the walls with the Ken Scott Unconventional wallpaper by Inkiostro Bianco. More than mere wallpaper, the six graphic designs in the collection represent a fusion of fashion and interior designer that invites the individual viewer to dream, play and experiment.
The patterns included in the Ken Scott Unconventional wallpaper collection are KS Cancellata, Domino, Peggy G, Coriopolis, Rosa Nera and a reinterpration that merges three separate designs, Vanità, Bloom and Zigano. Each an expression of Ken Scott’s immense talent, the wallpapers are exuberant and full of life, and result in a powerful visual impact. And each tells its own story.
Co-created with American designer Susan Nevelson (also known as Scott’s right hand), Peggy G draws inspiration from the fabric of the ceremonial garments worn by Peggy Guggenheim at the 1966 Venice Film Festival. A design from 1971, Domino was an all-over design for furnishings and was influenced by the works of the Op Art movement founder, Victor Vasarely.
Rosa Nera had previously been used in the creation of interior tapestries, particularly curtains and sofas (and was a favourite of fashion journalist Anna Piaggi), while Coriopolis references Greek-Byzantine art and its distinct mosaic style was originally designed in 1975 as a fabric for fashion and, over the years, home décor.
Each pattern within the Ken Scott Unconventional collection is offered in a variety of different colourways.
