The AZURE Houses issue returns in 2026 with stunning, innovative residential projects from Canada and around the world. Plus, we take a look at that seeming relic of the past: the mall.

Based on results of a recent survey conducted by LG that revealed that laundry symbols are misunderstand by upwards of 34 per cent of Canadians, the luxury appliance brand developed its new LG AI Front Load ThinQ washer and dryer.

Equipped with specialized technology and advanced sensors, the smart washer’s Direct Drive detects the weight and fabric make-up of items being laundered in each load to automatically dispense the appropriate amount of liquid detergent and fabric softener (through ezDispense) plus adapt agitation, temperature and timing to improve cleaning and extend the lifespan of garments by 15 per cent.

The Smart Pairing function of the connected dryer selects the optimal drying cycle based on the wash cycle. Further, the two compatible appliances can be paired with mobile apps that provide notifications of when detergent is running low (the washer can store up to 18 loads worth), how much time is left on the current cycle and when that cycle is finished.
