Linnut lamps by Magis

A curious collection of creatures, Linnut lamps do double duty as illuminators and whimsical objects. A collaboration between Magis, glassworks brand Iittala and the late Finnish glass designer Oiva Toikka, the family was inspired by the 1970s blown-glass series Birds by Toikka. The four bird-like characters are given their own distinct identities and are as impactful when turned off as they are when turned on.

Siiri’s circular body (left) is bookended by a rounded tail and slender golden beak, while the slightly more sophisticated Kirassi (right) boasts a vibrant blue head with narrow beak.

Offered in two sizes, Sulo’s luminous dome-shaped body (left) is topped with curious orange and black eyes and Palturi’s cartoon-like body (right, below) has a wildly expressive face thanks to its googly eyes and cheeky grin.

Cable-free and dimmable, the four characters are made from polycarbonate, which gives them an interesting textural aspect. A USB-C port on the bottoms allows them to be charged without impeding on the designs; the LED has a discrete touch-switch for adjusting the brightness.
