Designed in collaboration with Milan-based Elena Salmistraro, Loop from Ethimo reimagines seating as a “fluid sculpture” that invites numerous interpretations while also realigning our relationship with outdoor spaces.
Moving beyond the traditional function of a sofa, Loop was “conceived more as an organism than a simple piece of furniture,” says Salmistraro. To that end, Loop is composed of multiple volumes in different shapes that can be combined in numerous ways.
As its name implies, Loop nods to the idea of continuity and natural rhythm; looping back on itself, the flexible sofa welcomes, connects and holds together and gives the user an opportunity to create spontaneous configurations as desired.
The sinuous lines of the three-seater sofa eschews the distinction of a front and a back; instead, the soft volumes are approachable from any side and make an inviting destination for socializing and lounging. Devised to be an autonomous presence, Loop generates a natural and evolving relationship between people and their surroundings.
Loop is self-bearing and relies on technical padding instead of a visible supportive structure. The high-performance upholstery that covers the volumes presents a soft hand and expertly follows and envelops the shape of the individual volumes to create a tailored aesthetic.
Two multi-toned colourways are available for Loop — one with earthy warm hues like red and rust that reference Mediterranean landscapes (Earth) and the other in shades of sky blue and sea green that call to mind a scenic coastline (Sea).
While Loop from Ethimo is ideal for outfitting residential spaces with personality, it also makes a theatrical appearance in hospitality and contract settings.
