Swedish design studio Massproductions recently added an “unbreakable” mirror to its The Little Things collection of smaller-scale homeware items. The Memory Mirror series marks studio co-founder Chris Martin’s first mirror design and is the result of thorough material research and exploration.

After discovering that mirror glass has potentially negative environmental implications, Martin was determined to find an alternative material and settled on polished stainless-steel plates.

By allowing the metal’s inherent properties and manufacturing capabilities to inform the design, Martin developed the Memory Mirror to feature a simple yet interesting quality – rather than a frame in an alternate or contrasting material, the steel plate comprises the entire piece by curving around the vertical edges to form a continuously reflective surface.

An industrial-style knob situated at the top of each mirror can be used for wall-mounting and also doubles as a hook to hang scarves or other accessories. Made in Italy, the Memory Mirror series is diamond polished to achieve a high-quality reflective surface and is available in three sizes.
