San Diego-based sustainable tile maker Livden has released three new tile collections, with each offer its own unique personality. Made mainly from recycled materials (as all Livden tiles are) the trio — Metro, Bloom and Lola — all explore the ancient art of terrazzo in their own way.
Taking inspiration from the hustle and bustle of a busy city, the Metro collection debuts with two patterns: Carbon, a vivid triangular motif that plays with depth of colour by using five shades of one hue that gives dimension to the flat surface. Offered in five colourways, Blush, Dusk, Hot Lava, Moss and Blizzard Blue, Carbon is an Ivory Porcelain tile. Tetri, on the other hand, features a seemingly random array of irregular geometric shapes that are softened and texturized through considered shading. A Polar Ice Terrazzo tile (which is made through a special bonding process to fuse post-consumer recycled glass, granite, quartz, quartzite and pre-consumer porcelain), the seemingly simple Tetri can be rotated in different directions to create random or regulated installations and is offered in three colourways, Equinox, Ombre and Quill.
A modern interpretation of old-world and boho designs, the Lola collection features lively colour combinations and lived-in textures that reflect classic European charm. Inspired by the characteristics of Italian architecture, Mia expresses a charming Mediterranean vibe. A Chunky Terrazzo, the transitional tile is available in three colourways, Amalfi, Rosette and Tangelo. The second pattern in Lola is Wreath, an Ivory Porcelain tile, has a vintage-like floral motif that can dominate or simply accent a room and is available in four colourways, Clay, Icicle, Lace and Olive Juice.
Stylized, modern botanicals comprise the Bloom collection that can be used to instill a serene and calming atmosphere. The Daisy pattern has a structured arrangement of graphic flower petals and feels just as suitable for a modern farmhouse as a Spanish hacienda or country cottage; a Polar Ice Terrazzo, it’s available in four colourways, Rose Gold, Pacific Blue, Cotton Tail and Obsidian. Livden’s version of the familiar lotus flower, Lottie positions elegant flowers against irregular vertical lines in a graphic and compelling manner. Also a Polar Ice Terrazzo, Lottie is offered in five colourways, Earl Grey, Terracotta, Parisian, Teal and Honey.
