With its low profile and simple shape, the Nara coffee table by interior designers Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe was inspired by traditional Japanese tea tables.

Handmade in California (the duo’s eponymous boutique design agency and retail studio Nickey Kehoe is based in Los Angeles), the Nara coffee table is a fine example of quality craftsmanship and the power of simplicity: Intended as an heirloom piece to be passed down through generations, the clean style of the Nara coffee table effortlessly treads between transitional and contemporary.

Made from premium alder wood, the low-slung Nara coffee table features smoothly rounded corners and sturdy yet unobtrusive legs to maintain an easy-to-incorporate aesthetic. The coffee table is offered in two finishes – natural or saddle – both of which allow the beautiful natural grain of the wood to shine through and add organic interest.

Traditional Japanese Tansu-style handles accent the two inset drawers (with an internal height of 12.7 centimetres), which are crafted to sit flush with the table and are equipped with soft, self-close drawer glides. Two sizes of the Nara coffee table are available.
