Artisan lighting brand Hennepin Made recently released its latest series, the Nested lighting collection, which is inspired by the serene landscapes of the Upper Midwest.
Designed by Hennepin Made co-founder Jackson Schwartz, the handcrafted lighting fixtures within the Nested collection express a restrained luxury through refined natural materials and organic forms. Referencing the time-worn beauty of nature, the pieces in the series are a “meditation on place” and pay homage to the tactile essence of the Upper Midwest region.
Celebrating the textures of the area’s forests and stones and the contours of its rugged shorelines, the Nested collection creates a subdued interplay between light and land.
Each of the fixtures within the Nested lighting collection – which include a number of wall sconces, pendants and chandeliers – feature hand-crafted glass spheres with expressive organic veining and subtle variations that intentionally mimic the attributes of natural stone. Layering opacity with transparency and colour, the marbling techniques used to form the glass orbs introduce compelling depth and create a soft, diffused glow.
Hardwood bases are shaped into nest-like forms to cradle the spheres, with the graining of the wood complements the swirling patterns of the glass work, an effect that lends each fixture visual depth and elegance. Hand-finished brass loops and rods complete the look.
The Nested lighting collection includes five sconces – Globe, Orb, Double, 3 Light and 5 Light – and three suspended versions – Pendant, 6 Light Chandelier and 10 Light Chandelier. As with its other collections, Hennepin Made can also customize the fixtures in the Nested collection to for specific projects.
Three colourways are offered for the glass orbs – Sandstone, Moss or Sienna – which can be paired with one of five finish options for the solid wood bases – White, Natural, Walnut, Ebony and an exclusive White Oak. The metal details (for the suspended fixtures only) are available in Antique Bronze, Brushed Brass, Black Patina, Gunmetal, Matte Black and Matte White.
