When conceptualizing his Oblique collection for Spanish rug maker Nanimarquina, U.K.-based designer Matthew Hilton drew inspiration directly from the long-standing and popular act of rug layering.
The minimalist and elegant design features two clearly distinct geometrical planes – an oblique top-layer and conventional rectangular base.
Made from 100 per cent, hand-spun Afghan wool and combining two techniques – plush hand-knotted and flat soumak weaves – with differing textural outcomes, the rugs have a “geometric finesse” that adds a pleasing volume to interiors.
With a restrained and monochromatic palette of four powdery tones (Ivory, Amber, Obsidian and Pink Quartz), the refined beauty of each Oblique rug brings harmony, brightness and subtle movement to any room. Offered in four sizes.
