Berlin-based industrial designer Christian Werner combined natural materials with contemporary styling for his Ocavo collection for Duravit, a series of bathroom furniture that expresses visual depth and warmth. 

Intended to transform a fresh space with a cozy character, the Ocavo collection was created by Werner to “translate the power and tranquility of the forest into a piece of furniture — authentic, pure and sensual.” 

Made from solid oak, the furniture pieces were inspired by the Black Forest in southwest Germany, with Werner translating its mysterious beauty, dense forests and bright moss. Defined by the grain, scent and texture of the wood, the collection brings a sense of warmth and clarity to everyday life. 

The Ocavo collection from Duravit includes console and wall-mounted vanities, semi-tall cabinets (with solid-wood or Parsol glass doors), mirrors and mirror cabinets (both with integrated touch LEDs), allowing for a cohesive arrangement in the bathroom that exudes organic warmth and authenticity; different vanity models are designed for countertop basins, the brand’s ME by Starck ceramic washbasins and Werner’s own velvety matte Vitrium mineral-cast sinks from a previous Duravit collaboration.  

With their oak construction, the pieces in the Ocavo collection are expertly lacquered and treated with a water-based topcoat to ensure the natural beauty of the wood is preserved while also protecting it from humidity. Bevelled and chamfered exterior edges and classic finger joints and precise siphon cut-outs on the inside of the soft-closing drawers and cabinets lend the furniture an artisanal quality. 

The Ocavo collection from Duravit is offered in natural oak, bright oak and an elegant deep black oak; all three iterations highlight the fine grain of the wood with subtle clarity. With multiple pieces and accessories, the series can be configured to meet specific needs while creating a cohesive and organically beautiful bathroom setting.
