Summer 2026

The June/July/August 2026 edition of AZURE is dedicated to our 16th annual AZ Awards — and also features the best of Milan, the New Museum’s expansion, the latest in building envelope systems and more!

The AZ Awards issue packs much more than our winners and finalists — though they certainly take pride of place. (And you can read all about them on our dedicated AZ Awards site.)

Continuing its material exploration and appreciation for sustainable jute, Armadillo recently launched Panama, one of two new rugs that push the boundaries of the fibre’s design potential and durability.

Handcrafted using a soumak method – a thick kilim-like flat weave with a smooth surface and rough underside – Panama interweaves jute with virgin wool. Left raw, the plaited fibres produce a dynamic tonal depth that is then dyed to create subtle variations in colour making each rug unique from the next.

Providing a wonderful sensory experience underfoot, the rugs also introduce an organic element to interiors.

Panama is available in two earthy tones: inspired by the sandy beaches of San Blas, the honey-hue and complex neutrality of Papyrus are achieved by mixing soft white wool with golden jute; meanwhile, the Chagres rainforest was the jumping-off point for the lush green Kale colourway, which provides a grounding presence in any space.
