Italian designer Alberto Apostoli was inspired by the natural beauty of oysters – specifically the incongruity of the bivalve molluscs rough, asymmetrical outer shell and its elegant opaline interior – when creating the Pearl bathtub for Kreoo.
Handmade from Olive Grey marble, each Pearl bathtub exterior is unique in aesthetic and texture and features a wide border ledge that culminates in a center-positioned panel that controls the Airpool system. Integrated in a natural stone tub for the first time, the system churns the water through tiny jet holes at the bottom of the vessel to create a massaging sensation. A horizontal cut-out under the panel features a thin light to illuminate the water’s surface.
Contrasting the seemingly rough exterior, the smooth interior is made from polished resin finished with a mother-of-pearl coating that directly nods to its namesake.
While taking influence from the delicate gem, Kreoo’s Pearl bathtub is robust enough for use in hospitality settings as well as in private homes and harnesses the relationship between matter, light, water and refined technology to deliver a luxurious spa-like experience.
