When designing the generous Pico lounge chair for Studio TK, Lisbon-based Danish studio Busk+Hertzog looked to Portugal’s highest mountain peak – Mount Pico – for inspiration. Wanting to reimagine what a comfortable lounge chair can look like from every angle, the team focused on creating a sculptural element to enhance modern workspaces.
To develop the unique form, the designers began by folding highly pliable paper to create an original shape – one that was organic but also angular. Whether approached from the front or the back, the distinctive lines and curves that comprise the Pico lounge chair from Studio TK become a visually intriguing sculpture.
Offered in low- and high-back versions, the seat encourages free movements and positioning shifting and promotes comfort for a variety of sitting postures.
The two base options available – a 4-star swivel and a metal sled – can be finished in a range of colours that complement or contrast with the upholstery, which can be selected from a portfolio of Luum, Kvadrat and Maharam textiles.
