The AZURE Houses issue returns in 2026 with stunning, innovative residential projects from Canada and around the world. Plus, we take a look at that seeming relic of the past: the mall.

Quilt porcelain tile collection by Mosaico Piu

When conceptualizing her tile collection for Mosaico+, Milanese designer Marialaura Rossiello of Studio Irvine took inspiration from an old English book on the history of quilting and patchwork. Like squares of irregular fabric stitched together, the Quilt porcelain tile series can be freely arranged in unique patterns with a hand-crafted look.

Expanding the size of a typical mosaic chip to nine-by-nine-centimetres, the porcelain stoneware tiles feature a scored segment in one corner that can be broken off after grouting or coloured in a shade different than the through-body; grout lines are 3-millimetres-thick, introducing another graphic visual effect when filled (polymer-modified cement or coarse-grained epoxy grouts are recommended).

The individual modules are available in three base and six accent colourways and in smooth or textural finishes. Quilt porcelain tiles are suitable for use for wall coverings, indoor and outdoor floors, pavings and swimming pools.
