Dually influenced by iconic textile designers Anni Albers and Sheila Hicks and Japanese Boro textiles, the new Quilt rug by Kasthall’s Ellinor Eliasson combines different colours, shapes and textures to create an elaborate geometric patchwork.
With a unique expression that is at once traditional and contemporary, the nuanced design expertly balances the Japanese technique of mending and patching together tattered fabrics to make clothing with the beautifully complex textiles of Albers and Hicks.
While it has the look of a woven rug, Quilt is hand-tufted from pure wool and linen and the surface is cut and looped to different heights that meet in patches of colour.
Mixing yarn colours adds a degree of vibrancy and wide borders act as a frame to contain the checkerboard pattern. Available in two colourways: Bronze Green and Terracotta Sand.
