Summer 2026

The June/July/August 2026 edition of AZURE is dedicated to our 16th annual AZ Awards — and also features the best of Milan, the New Museum’s expansion, the latest in building envelope systems and more!

The AZ Awards issue packs much more than our winners and finalists — though they certainly take pride of place. (And you can read all about them on our dedicated AZ Awards site.)

Ray lighting collection Sonneman

The Ray lighting collection from Sonneman juxtaposes a formal structure with playful geometry, resulting in a striking series of chandeliers and wall lamps that captivate as much as they illuminate.

With the Ray chandelier, an array of LEDs extends outward from the central slender stem to create an even distribution of light. The individual arms are composed of two delicate-seeming bars, rigid in their construction yet visually light and balanced.

The shades at the end of each arm of the Ray chandelier have a material softness that effects an ambient glow; the shades are easily interchangeable thanks to an obscure slot on the back side. Offered in three formats – with three, five or six luminaires – the chandelier comes with a customizable stem kit that allows for the fixture to be installed at various hanging heights.

Also a part of the Ray lighting collection from Sonneman is the Ray wall lamp, which mimics the chandelier in its refined and impactful design. A single arm (in short or long lengths) stretches out from its tubular anchor point, holding the soft shade aloft to present functional illumination.

Suitable for use in a range of applications – a beside reading lamp, focused lighting in a study, or a functional addition to the workspace – the Ray wall lamp rotates on an axis, which allows it to be moved in a full semi-circular direction; the brightness level of the light is controlled by a switch attached to the fixture.

The shades for both the Ray chandelier and wall lamp are available in aluminum (in Warm Gray, Satin Black or Oxide Red) or acrylic (in Opal White or Smoked Etched), while the structural body of each is offered in the grey, black and deep red colourways.

Since the shades of the Ray lighting collection are interchangeable, they can selected to match the body colourway or contrast with it – and can easily be swapped in and out to match a mood or room’s aesthetic.
