Copenhagen-based Danish-Italian design studio GamFratesi applied its signature affinity for quality craftsmanship, material contrasts and refined aesthetics to the Repose lamps, designed for Denmark lighting manufacturer LYFA.
Playing with a balance between linearity and the natural plasticity of glass, the opal glass shades have organic silhouettes that are intersected by a slender metal stick, which was inspired by the simple functionality of traditional Japanese hair pins. The combination of shapely and straight give the pendants an appearance that evokes the meditative movement of hanging mobiles.
Repose is offered in three pendant sizes plus a table lamp, with the mouth-blown, three-layered opalized glass shade rendered in a different shape for each; the metal pin can be brass or powder-coated black. The pendants are suspended using steel wire and black or white textile cords.
