Alluding to the trunk of a tree rising from the ground, the cylindrical base of the Rigatino freestanding washbasin from Antonio Lupi is a sturdy support for the deep basin that crowns it.
Made from a selection of woods (Thermo oak, Canaletto walnut or natural oak), marble (Bianco Carrara, Verde Alpi, Rosso Levanto, Emperador, Black Marquina, Calacatta Viola or Port Laurent) and natural stone, the sculptural pedestal is detailed with subtle vertical millings.
In wood, this produces parallel lines highlighting the natural irregular grain, and with marble and stone, which are hand-carved from a single block, the grooves enhance the characteristics of the non-uniform veining and gradients. All three result in a surface with a dynamic three-dimensional quality.
The basins themselves can be specified in Bianco Carrara or Nero Marquina marbles or the Italian brand’s Flumood or Colormood, non-porous, stain-resistant and easy-to-clean composite resins. Rigatino can also be topped with the Simplotondo sink, which features an integrated countertop ledge.
