Embracing a universal pastime – building sandcastles at the beach – as inspiration, U.K. design studio Jones & Partners created the Sandcastle collection for outdoor furniture-maker Pavilion to reflect the differing heights and cylindrical forms of the mini architectural structures.
The collection includes tables, barstools and umbrella bases that can be nested and grouped to easily define distinct zones in outdoor lounges, cafés and bars, in commercial, hospitality and residential settings.
To bring stability and weight to the individual pieces, the design studio opted to fill the tables bases with sand, a further nod to the shorelines of Miami, where the pieces are manufactured.
Simple and monolithic, the elements in the Sandcastle collection are made from aluminum and feature rounded edges, a slightly tapered form and smooth textures, all of which lend them a casual elegance.
The high and low bistro tables have a modern pedestal base and can support a range of applications; tabletops are available in such durable materials as powder-coated aluminum, smooth fibreglass, porcelain and engineered stone.
The tailored barstools can be topped with a soft foam seat that is water-resistant and resilient to heat, cold and humidity; a powder-coated aluminum seat is also an option. All pieces in the Sandcastle collection are available in a range of powder-coated colourways.
