For her third collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn, Danish designer Rikke Frost delivered a companion piece for her Sideways sofa that can also stand on its own – the Sideways footstool. 

Classically simple in design, the Sideways footstool exhibits Frost’s adherence to quality craftsmanship evidenced through the expert tailoring and elegant joinery. Working closely with the skilled craftsmen at Carl Hansen & Søn, the designer was able to overcome a technical challenge – the upholstery for each stool is cut from a single piece of material that has to be stretched over the generous foam padding to ensure that the weave of the fabric remains completely straight and wrinkle-free. 

Using natural materials to realize her design, the Sideways elegant frame with distinctive high legs is made from FSC-certified oak while the soft volume is offered in a range of handsome textiles. 

Comfortable and versatile, the Sideways footstool makes a welcome addition to residential living spaces as well as corporate offices, hotel lobbies and other public settings.
