Designed by renowned U.K. firm Foster + Partners, Takku was named for the Japanese word for tack. It has an undeniable architectural quality to it, with a smooth-capped LED portable lamp and weighted base. The Artemide lamp is also rechargeable; with three brightness levels, it can last for at least 20 hours. “We worked hard to optimize the light diffuser to distribute the light down the stem,” explains Mike Holland, Foster + Partner’s head of industrial design, “while also creating a visible illuminated edge around the shade and express a volume of light.”
