The iconic Tekla rug collection from Swedish rug-maker Kasthall was recently updated with a new colour palette of eight options that celebrate tradition and renewal.

Originally designed by Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg (lead designer at Kasthall for 28 years and “Queen of rugs”) in 2007, the Tekla rug collection celebrates the festive moments in life. “I wanted it to be reminiscent of parties, candy, and confetti,” said Lagerhem Ullberg.

More than just rug, the Tekla collection from Kasthall brings mood and emotion to interiors, which is strengthened further by the new colourways that look as delicious as they sound – the soft pastel pink Cotton Candy; the deep velvety purple Ube Ice Cream; the earthy Matcha Latte; the rich and varied Blackberry Crumble; the warm Mango Lassi; the inviting Vanilla Shake; the delicious Créme Brûlée; and cool tones of Icy Caramel.

Made from an innovative mix of felted wool, fine wool and linen yarn, the Tekla rug was awarded the Swedish Design Award in 2008 for its material blend and imaginative use of colour: Each rug in the collection is hand-tufted from thick felted wool and linen, which produces a super-plush and tactile pile.

Each rug in the Tekla rug collection from Kasthall is made-to-order at the brand’s factory in Kinna, Sweden, and combine industrial craftsmanship, innovative design characteristics and sustainability.
