Italian furniture-maker Passoni Design has collaborated with Listone Giordano to deliver a new high-end wooden flooring that celebrates the art of winemaking in a compelling way.

Reimagining the Medoc collection of distinct trapezoidal shaped planks, originally designed by Michele De Lucchi with Philippe Nigro, the team treated the quality oak wood to a patented finish based on the “intrinsic properties of wine and pomace.” The acidity of the wine and pulpy residue combines with iron oxide and produces a self-colouring chemical reaction on the surface of the wood.

Part of the Natural Culture project, the new finish gives the wood a high-quality palette through a solvents-free and non-polluting process.

The Medoc planks’ unique shape was inspired by the tapered shapes of tree trunks and this new treatment enhances the beauty of the traditional sawn surfaces with a captivating paly of light and natural sensations.
