Treading the line between classic and contemporary, the Twill bar stool from Australian furniture-maker DesignByThem maximizes both style and comfort.
Designed by Sarah Gibson and Nicholas Karlovasitis of the Sydney-based studio Gibson Karlo, the shapely stool is defined by its double profile that lends it a playful characteristic. With its sweeping curvature, the backrest extends seamlessly into solid armrests while the slender and tall legs form a supportive framework.
Taking inspiration from the malleability of plasticine strips and the repetitive structure of a classic twill weave, the stool combines ornamentation with strength. Fabricated with specifically considered proportions, Twill tucks neatly under bench and bar tops to not impede on floorspace when not in use.
Made from solid ash in Natural, Silk Grey or Black Stained and other colours (achieved through a 2-pack polyurethane finish in clear, colour-block or stained), Twill can be outfitted with an optional fixed upholstery seat pad in a wide range of colourways. A metal version suitable for outdoor use will soon be added to the collection.
