The Ume collection from J+J Flooring draws its name and influence from sakiori, a traditional Japanese art that involves weaving scraps of fabric together to create an entirely new textile. With the flooring series, this hand-crafted and artisanal sensibility is applied to the technically refined Kinetex construction. Providing key performance and sustainability attributes, Kinetex is an advanced textile composite flooring solution that combines the warmth and soft-surfacing characteristics of carpeting with long-wearing and durable hard-surface vinyl or rubber flooring.
Celebrating the beauty of imperfection, the Ume collection translates the organic and hand-woven quality of sakiori into a small-scale and tightly woven pattern with rich texture. Along with an inviting tactile quality, the tight weave also works to camouflage seams, which allows for uninterrupted installations.
The Ume collection features 17 colourways; leaning into softer, earthier neutrals with richer accent tones, the expansive palette suits a wide range of interior styles and needs.
Applicable in a variety of environments — including workspaces, educational settings, healthcare and senior living — the Ume collection from J+J Flooring is offered in 60.9-by-60.9-centimetre modular tile formats (24 x 24 inches) and each tile is composed of more than 45 per cent post-consumer recycled content — with one variant containing the equivalent of 27 recycled plastic bottles.
